Spaulding’s adaptive golf program, Back in the Swing (BITS), is designed to assist persons of all ages with disabling conditions in returning to or learning to play the game of golf. It is appropriate for those with physical limitations due to arthritis, stroke, hip or knee surgery, amputation, paraplegia, and any other physically or cognitive limiting illness or injury.
Back in the Swing (BITS)
Back in the Swing consists of three, 2-hour sessions at local golf courses with the following lesson plan:
Week 1: Work with a golf professional and specially trained, licensed rehabilitation staff on grip, stance, and swing. There will be an emphasis on safe, adaptive techniques.
Week 2: Continue to work on adaptive techniques, in reference to pitch shot, chip shot, and putting. PLUS work with a golf professional on specific issues tailored to your needs.
Week 3: Review lessons 1 and 2. Use the skills learned by playing a few holes with the assistance of Spaulding Rehabilitation staff.
